First things first; I have a job! Needed to get that off my chest, as I am very chuffed about that. It's a trainee teaching assistant post at Gower House School (http://www.gowerhouseschool.co.uk/) in Wembley. I start as soon as I can find a self-study course to enrol on, so I get a job and a qualification out of this deal! But best of all, I can finally sign off of benefits, and leave CDG for good!
I will, of course, be finishing my traineeship at Poached! I really want to see it through to the end, as I've gained some valuable skills as a writer (and still have some more to go!)
In other news; writing for the web. I never really thought about it until my last Poached session; didn't really think there was an art to it. But then maybe I am a typical internet user, taking all for granted. This, incidentally, meant the session was practically invaluable, particularly if I am ever required to write something on the website, as I found mastering the technique for it to be very hard! Our assignment was to write the history page for Poached Creative's up and coming website, which was interesting as we got a history lesson in the process!
While I will not become complacent with all the good things going on right now, I must take some pride in how well everything seems to have turned out!

"The World and His Wife" and Jazz withdrawal symptoms
As days in the CDG building go, last Thursday was one of the best, if not the most productive!
Having gone through fourteen years of education, I was forced to watch all the work I did disappear; either into the bin or into some sleepy file somewhere, never to be seen again. Not this time, though! The FAQ that myself and Rokeya wrote will actually be getting put to good use, on the Room2Heal website! (www.rth.org.uk)
In other news, I am attempting to author a series of novels called the "Life of Freefall" series. Basically an attempt to put my philosophy/extreme views in some form of applicable writing. My weapon for my attack on modern and traditional stereotypes! I have given my prologue and first chapter to a few people (including Jess) for scrutiny and review.
One controversy that came up in the prologue is my attempt to describe the political relationship between the USA and the UK, using the analogy of a traditional (think before 1900's) marriage. Initially I was ruthless, describing the relationship between the husband and wife as akin to that of a master and slave, but I had to edit that to "avoid alienating half my readers", in my mother's words. In the end I rewrote it to say that it is more to do with the social image that needs to be reinforced, and that the female almost always does harbor dissatisfaction to the traditional "role" expected from a wife; as well she should! I'm glad I did; I love the "world and his wife" analogy; and there is a real point to be made in relation to the UK/USA partnership. Anyway, I will post further news as it comes relating to this topic.
Finally, news from the musical front. I have always loved jazz music above any other type, and, other than the Corrs, will always prioritise it for listening. Anyway, I hadn't been listening to it as much recently, and I noticed I had become a lot more irritable and prone to succumbing to sloth. However, I went to see my favourite amateur jazz group; the Laurie Morgan Trio, last Sunday, and all my troubles went out of the window. Thus I resume my ambition to train as a jazz drummer; for the sake of my sanity! I've contacted a couple of people to coach/teach me; for example, the great Laurie Morgan himself!
As they say, things can only get better!

First Post
So, it's my first day of the Poached Creative course. From an outsider's perspective, a tardy start for me; I had to ride my horse for the vet, so I didn't get in until about 1pm, but fortunately Jess was very understanding about it (very nice of her, I might add).
Looking back on today, it's been fairly successful. The stubborn pinto git impressed the vet with his healing powers, and is now happily grazing with his friends, after proceeding to find the first puddle of mud he could and roll in it, coating himself from head to hoof, so I will be getting very dusty tonight trying to clean it all off. With that, running my mum's poor car into the ground trying to get to the feed merchant and then back to Wood Green without anyone pointing proverbial missiles at me, I feel rather pleased with myself. I will accept my reward with gratitude: a free ticket to a jazz gig in Watford tonight; lovely!
I look forward to the rest of the course; working with Rokeya and Jess, and sharpening my writing skills in the process. If I'm going to write a novel that someone other than my parents read, it's always a good idea to work on the writing skills. I'm also glad to get the opportunity to learn how to work with websites (doing this, for example), means I can extend my random thoughts to "higher places".
I have never blogged before, so I have no idea if this will even show on the correct page! But where there's a will, there's a way, so hopefully you'll be hearing from me a fair bit in the near future. Just make sure you bring stress balls, eh?
